IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN - FOOTBALL SEASON!!
Andres Alcala Junior was killed on May 25th, 2008 in front of his own home in a mistaken identity killing, being at the wrong place at the wrong time. This web site was built on May 26th to commemorate his life and to provide an online memorial for his numerous family and friends. In addition a non-profit was established in his name to provide assistance to at risk youth in Monterey County. A partnership with Rancho Cielo Youth Campus was formed a short time later in a mutually beneficial relationship with the same goal in mind. Give Monterey Peninsula youth another choice to that of a high risk lifestyle.Junior spent eight years of his life dedicating himself to his job at the world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium. In his job and the community he was the type of person who gave freely without expectation of reciprocation. From going out of his way to help patrons of the aquarium to being an excellent role model to the neighborhood children not to mention his intense dedication to his family, Junior lived a life that many of us can only dream of living, a life of selflessness and generosity. A life of giving to others.
Junior would only want for us to do something good with his legacy. Instead of focusing solely on our loss, he would only want us to funnel our energy into something both positive and productive. Our goal as a family and as an organization is to carry on his legacy in a manner that he would be proud of.
Throughout the year the Andres Alcala Scholarship Fund holds a number of fundraisers to replenish our fund so that we may continue to give assistance to those in need and who deserve a chance for a productive future. Please check back regularly for updates and feel free to make a donation through the link listed below.
